A delegation of the Medical Chamber of Montenegro participated in the 33rd ZEVA Symposium of Medical Chambers of Central and Eastern Europe, held in Vienna from 3 to 5 September 2026.

The symposium brought together representatives of medical chambers from countries across the region and Europe, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss current challenges facing the medical profession and healthcare systems.

Particular attention was devoted to the potential application of telemedicine in everyday medical practice, the advancement of continuing medical education, as well as the role of medical chambers in planning and implementing healthcare system reforms. Participants also discussed issues related to professional autonomy, the quality of healthcare, and strengthening cooperation among medical chambers.

The participation of the delegation of the Medical Chamber of Montenegro attracted considerable attention. Dr Vesna Miranović and Dr Žanka Cerović delivered presentations on the topics “Telemedicine in Montenegro”, “Task Shifting and Nurses in Montenegro”, and “Continuing Medical Education”, which generated significant interest among participants and encouraged an exchange of views and experiences.

The President of the Medical Chamber of Montenegro, Dr Žanka Cerović, presented Montenegro’s potential for hosting international professional gatherings and formally invited the participants to hold the next ZEVA Symposium in Montenegro, with the Medical Chamber of Montenegro serving as host.

The proposal was accepted, and we are particularly pleased to inform the members of the Chamber that Montenegro will host the next meeting of representatives of the medical chambers of Central and Eastern Europe.

The acceptance of Montenegro’s candidacy represents recognition of the work of the Medical Chamber of Montenegro and its increasingly visible presence within international professional organisations. At the same time, it provides an opportunity for Montenegro to welcome representatives of the European medical community and further strengthen professional cooperation with partner medical chambers.
